Backlight brightness setting does not work

Hi,

I have two Instinct 2S Solar watches. In the other (sw. 8.64), backlight setting does not work. In my sons watch (sw. 8.10), the backlight brightness is immediately changed when setting it in the quick access menu. Is it due to the software version or is my watch broken? Backlight works but the brightness cannot be changed.

BR, Janne

  • Thank you for your post to bring attention to the issue. I tested on software v8.10 and the CTRL button shortcut menu brightness worked successfully. I then tested with the v8.64 software just released and found the CTRL shortcut also worked successfully too. It appears to be an issue with your watch vs. the v8.64 software release itself.

Please try the following: (test after each step tried)

    - Restart your watch

    - Hard Reset: Hold down your top left power button until your watch shuts off then let go once off

    - Factory Master Reset: How to Reset My Garmin Outdoor Watch

If you continue to have the issue with your watch, please reach out to Outdoor Product Support in your region.

  • Hi,

thanks for the quick answer. I realized that there is no problem with the backlight settings. Previously, I tested it at "sleeping time" so the brightness was set according to "Sleeping time" settings. Then CTRL button shortcut menu brightness control doesn't have any effect. But now it works when it is not "sleeping time" Slight smile Maybe you could fix this issue to the next sw version in order to prevent confusion. For example so that CTRL button shortcut menu brightness control affects the brightness setting in the mode that is currently active (during activity, normal use, during sleeping).

  • This bug also appears on mine.  I just tried to change the brightness and no difference at all.  Worked previously with other software versions.

  • I want to ensure you are aware that there is not a known issue for the backlight brightness setting. In the thread example, the backlight settings could not be changed using the shortcut during the Sleep Mode time set.

  • It appears to have been some temporary glitch- it didn't work from the controls menu, then reacted after going into the main backlight brightness setting in the menu.
