Why does my Instinct 2 not track my walk during the golf activity, but my older vivoactive 3 could do it?

What exactly do you mean by telling it does not track your walk? Not counting your steps? Not recording the activity with the map and other details? Or something else?

If t is the first case (not counting steps), then make sure you do not hold the caddy with the hand wearing the watch, when walking, in order that the hand can freely move, allowing so the watch to detect the steps.

If it is the second case, then did you you start the Golf activity, when you begun to play? It won't start automatically, you have to initiate it, using the GPS button, and the activity menu. If Golf is not listed, select "+ Add", and add the Golf activity profile. Stop and Save, once you finished with the game.

If it is something else, then please share a link to one of the recorded golf activities, where we can see the problem.

Hi. Thank you for your reply. It tracks my steps, it picks up the elevation. 

I have started the golf activity. It provides me with distances to the front, middle and back of the green. I enter my score after each hole and keeps track of that too. So the golf app is doing everything else i want. 

Attached is a picture of hidden and visible walking at the golf course. It uploaded to strava when I used my Vivoactive 3. This is what I want with the instinct 2. I have the latest updates installed. I wondered if there's anything I need to enable on the watch or garmin connect app

How does the Strava map differ when using the I2?  Do you have a screenshot?

It doesn't upload anything into Strava when using the golf activity on I2. It saves the scorecards to garmin golf app, it shows more or less where i hit the balls on each hole, but it does not show a map. In the connect app i only see my score. 

Would be nice to upload the activity to strava as a walk at least.

Did you save the activity? Did you successfully sync the watch with the Garmin Connect app, or did you try syncing over the USB cable to Garmin Express on the computer? When you open the folders on the watch (while having it connected over the USB cable), do you se a file with the date+time stamp of the concerned golf activity there? If so, and it did not sync (neither with Garmin Connect, nor with Garmin Express), then try importing it manually at https://connect.garmin.com/modern/import-data. If you get an error, while importing, zip the file and post it here (see the command Insert » Image/video/file » upload), or place somewhere on the cloud, where we could access it.
