What watch

Current apple watch 5 user. Love sleep tracking. I track running, basketball, tennis, and strength. Hate the looks and battery life, looking for as accurate as possible hr tracking, with preferably a hybrid design, if not hybrid then rugged, not a fan of the typical black screen smart watch type even with aod. Based on my criteria which watches should I look into? Witlings SW seems enticing cuz its analog but the hr tracking tested by QuantifiedScientist  in strength training or any high movement exercise + no GPS. Vivo move sport seems to have better hr tracking but not quite sure if it lives up to its 5 day battery life which is quite little. Apart from those two I have been eyeing the instinct 2 series, seems to have accurate hr but bad sleep tracking? anymore recommendations and which should I choose (witlings and vvmove)

  • you are writing in an Instinct 2 forum. What kind of answer do you expect? Joy

  • Maybe check out FR255/955 or Suunto 9 Peak?

  • I Always had trouble with Garmin’s sleep tracking (no matter which watch, EPIX 2, Instinct 2 etc. It often  mismatched my sleep experience and Garmin’s own Bodybattery metric e.g I felt I had a good nights sleep, Bodybattery charged up to 95 but Sleep score showed something like „55 poor“. I got an Oura Ring 3 and it’s sleep tracking correlated much better with how I felt.

BUT after about 6 weeks with the Oura Ring my Garmin sleep Scores started to match my feeling and my Bodybattery much better! I would now say, that Garmin’s sleeptracking really works quite good for me. I have no idea if Garmin changed something or if it’s because I adopted better sleep habits by using the Oura ring or if it just needs 8 weeks or so until Garmin adapts to one’s individual rhythm.

If you like the rugged outdoor look of the Instinct and the monochrome but sharp display, I would really recommend it! For the price asked it’s a great watch with more features to come and lots of data without to install 10 different apps, that don’t “talk” to each other (like on the Apple Watch)
