Will it be possible to have in the future some custom task for button shortcut to trigger something on the phone? For Android it would be awesome to integrate such with Tasker app. This is one thing that I miss in my new Garmin watch :(

There are some Connect IQ apps available for that in the store. Not all of them are already compiled for the new Instinct 2, but if you contact the authors, they will certainly do it.
Yep, I found it and already wrote an email, but still it would be better to have it in the software, just one shortcut and you have multiple solutions depends on your code in Tasker.
The application prepared for older watches require quite few button clicks to perform Tasker task.
+1 for this feature!
I've already contacted the dev of those IQ tasker apps twice, but no luck, no response. I hope some solution comes through eventually. In the meantime, I've got a little hack you can try: I use the 'find my phone' button to trigger various tasks on my phone - tasker / autonotification can intercept the notification and perform any task you create. If you get good with tasker, you can even assign multi-level commands; for example, one-press/two presses/three presses, etc.
Genius, thanks!
Funny think that before I was using 5 buttons to trigger alarm/led to find my phone, now the oposite way.
I will try my tasks to snoze phone alarm with your solution :)
The downside is that you lose the 'find my phone' function. I can send you the taskernet link if you like. Can I share urls here?
Sorry for late answer, I would like to see your solution. I had no time to play with it, but maybe comming weekend I will.
I checked and "Find my phone" can't be set on button shortcut, very disappointing...
I've got my fmp in the 'controls', and controls assigned to a quick key. it's two button presses, and I can even do it without looking. here's my project: https://taskernet.com/shares/?user=AS35m8nGiwEE%2Fn58ZkWslvdyYqcK0o8olXzUCNwqFhfy4v0NUi3gPUfLkjfsfaL79qHMLwh8xA%3D%3D&id=Project%3AGarmin+FMP+%7C+actions
