Hello Instinct 2 customers,

We're back with another release candidate that includes some bug fixes!

The links to download the software update are listed below. Select the link specific to your watch model: Instinct 2 or Instinct 2S. • I do not have any lag on this firmware. I am paired with iPhone latest iOS. People who are experiencing lag, are you on android?

  • Nothing to do the phones the watch is laggy

  • Found a bug today while hiking. Distance stopped being updated. Went on a hike with a course that was 1.6 miles long. At the end I selected tracback to navigate back to beginning. Then I hit stop and resume activity later to rest before continuing. After resuming distance travelled did not update during the travel back. This also messed up ete and average speed. I'm assuming because they are based on distance traveled. The activity file says the distance is 1.6 miles but if you follow the gpx data it follows a path of 3.2 miles.

Not telling it did not happen, but I use the Resume Later function regularly. and I know that it can happen easily that you press the GPS button to resume, thinking it did, but in fact you just open the activity screen still in stopped state, and you have to start it by pressing the GPS button again. Are you sure you really pressed the GPS button twice, and saw the triangle arrow symbol in the round field?

  • The first press of a button after a long time of non-use of the watch takes about 3 seconds for it to react.

  • I have been thoroughly testing the current beta firmware since it came out, and I made the following observations:

-lagginess definitely is not there anywhere, if someone has that should do a factory reset

-the race predictor stays in mile, even when I set km as default unit

-it is impossible to add connect IQ datafields, no matter how and which I try, they are not present in the settings, neither on watch nor in mobile app

-if you upgrade from previous versions, a second shutdown control appears and it's impossible to remove - factory reset solves this

-in hike mode, it you pause the workout and press down, the watch restarts

Please solve these, most importantly the missing datafields, but apart from that, thanks for the great work!

I added successfully some, with no issues. Perhaps you are not looking on the right place for them. They are available in the customization of activity Data Screens: select the activity » Activity Settings » Data Screens » field N » ConnectIQ Fields

  • I know, I did that already a million times on my previous Garmin watches, but here it doesn't work, even after factory reset. On the watch I don't even have the connect IQ fields options and in the connect app it shows empty, while in connect IQ it shows up the datafields as installed. I tried many of them, on the screenshot you can see one which I chose because it is made specifically for the instinct.
