I have an issue with the compass in Instinct 2 Solar. I need to recalibrate i very often. I have seen this with firmware 7.03, 8.04 and 8.06. Annyone with the same problem?

If your compass is always at the wrong degree after calibrating it, please reach out to Outdoor Product Support in your region.
Steps to Calibrate The Compass:
- Calibrating the Compass Manually
For all…
My compass also needs to be calibrated almost everytime I need it. When calibrating, the process is complete almost immidiatly ”figure 8”. Then it seems accurate when comparing to analog compass…
The compass error shows itself as follows: When I rotate the clock 360 °, it only shows readings between approx. 320 to 360 °.
When I subsequently calibrate it, I only have to move the clock quite…
I have to calibrate the compass almost every time before use or what it shows is just totally off. As others mentioned the calibration stops before I complete the full motion. After the calibration, it works better but it is still far from what I had in instinct 1 solar. I have 8.08 beta firmware.
I also get this a lot. Just assumed it was normal. But the same issues. It's not representative of North, so I calibrate but it finishes quickly before a full 8 movement. Then it's accurate against a good reference..... Till next time.

I have the same issue on the 8.10 firmware. I need to perform the calibration each time when I want to use the compass and the calibration process finishes before I have even completed the the first movement.
Compass is broken on my IS2.
Needing to calibrate the compass before use is always a good idea. As long as you receive the ok calibrating, your compass is successfully calibrated.
- What is the behavior of your compass after it has been calibrated?
Same here.. did you find a solution?
the calibration process finishes before I have even completed the the first movement.
Just because the graphic shows the figure of eight with an inversion of the watch does not mean that the full movement is required for calibration.
What is the behavior of your compass after it has been calibrated?
Mine works fine. Does yours?
Manual says "Your watch was already calibrated at the factory, and the watch uses automatic calibration by default. If you experience irregular compass behavior, for example, after moving long distances or after extreme temperature changes, you can manually calibrate the compass."
If you have to calibrate it every day under normal conditions something is wrong I guess. Smells software issue to me.
- What is the behavior of your compass after it has been calibrated?
It shows proper directions after the calibration, but necessity to perform calibration before each use does not look for me and most users in this thread as proper behaviour.
Let's check the User Manual:

Sorry, but I can't see from the User Manual that I need to calibrate the compass each usage and can't agree that showing the wrong directions 1 day after the last calibration is a proper behaviour for the compass in the watch. Why none of my smartphone's compass goes crazy in the same way?
There's definitely some issue, I can never rely on the compass in this watch, it's strange for me that Garmin ignores this problem.
