Intensity Minutes extremely high

Since getting my Instinct Solar 2 (originally wore an Instinct Solar and Venue 2) my intensity minutes are off the charts high and my activity hasn't changed. I went from getting around 700 minutes a week to over 4,000 a week.  Anyone else seeing extremely high intensity minutes?

  • Maybe lay off the ******** a little? Just kidding nope mine is good.

  • 700+ is extremely high. Please ensure your Instinct 2 is fully updated to the latest v6.16 software. Also, review your activities for your optical heart rate being received. If the OHR sensor is reading you poorly, it could be the culprit.

If you continue to have the issue, please reach out to Outdoor Product Support in your region.

  • Are you still experiencing this issue?  My intensity minutes have been far higher since switching from my Vivoactive 4.

  • In Garmin Connect Mobile, go to the device settings » User Settings » Heart Rate, and post the screenshot of it here. Another one of the HR Zones, and then go to Health  & Wellness » Weekly Intensity Minutes and make another screenshot there.

  • Did you use HR Zones for Intensity Minutes on your Vivoactive 4 too, or rather the default mode? And were the Max. HR and the HR Zone settings identical? If not, then you cannot expect the same results. Also, there is no value for Resting HR. If you wear the watch round the clock, I recommend setting it to Auto-Detect. Although when  you use HR Zones for IM, it is less important.

With the settings you have shown, you should get IMs for all periods longer than 10min, where your HR is above 127 bpm, and double IMs for HR above 145 bpm, so you can now check your daily HR graph, to see instantly whether there is some problem with the calculation, or not. And you can do the same with your old data from Vivoactive 4.

  • Thanks trux.  TBH I don't think I have amended any HR settings on any Garmin watch and have used whatever is set as default on receipt but I will compare settings between the 2 watches to see if I can see any obvious differences.
