Flashlight issue

Hi anyone unable to cycle between high and low on the flashlight? If I select flashlight it comes on full and I can cycle to the lower setting but then it won't go to high again unless I come out of the app and go back in. Also I have set up a quick key for it but this briefly comes on bright then goes to low setting and stays that way.

  • It does not work. For me flashlight works just for a second. There are too many bugs at the moment and i am thinking on returning the watch. I might go back to my instinct solar 1 as seems a lot better in all the ways.

  • I am unsure about high and low settings for the flashlight. I own the Instinct 2 Solar. Perhaps there is something I am missing for information to fully understand but there was nothing in the manual referring to high and low. On my watch, the flashlight is an on/off feature that turns the display on and removes all characters in flashlight mode. The behavior is the same as the first Instinct series.

Please go into more detail. I will be happy to look into your issue further. Thank you!

  • Chris, if you put the flashlight as hot key you will see that it just work for 1 second coming back to the original brightness.

  • This issue has been resolved.

  • I experience both correct and incorrect behaviors. I open the flashlight with a hotkey ctrl+set - if I let go both buttons simultanousely I get a correct behavior. But if I press ctrl slightly slower then it toggles the light for a second and this changes flashlight behavior as if it was a regular watch menu - it will not be 100% bright and will timeout. Hope that helps.

  • Hi anyone unable to cycle between high and low on the flashlight?

I think I notice what you describe.  I turn on the flashlight via the control menu.  Once the Flashlight screen is on full brightness, I press the GPS button again the screen brightness will dim.  To get full brightness, I have to turn off the Flashlight and turn it back on again.

  • Once the Flashlight screen is on full brightness, I press the GPS button again the screen brightness will dim.

Are you able to replicate this? Is there any chance, when your flashlight dims, it is going to your System > Backlight > General Use setting when not set to 100%?

    Thank you!

  • it is going to your System > Backlight > General Use setting when not set to 100%

This is exactly was appears to be happening.

    1. Set "General Use" backlight to 5%
    2. Select (GPS button) Flashlight from Controls menu
    3. Screen appears to be at 100%
    4. Press GPS button again
    5. Screen appears to be at 5%
    6. Turn off Flashlight
    7. Set General Use backlight to 100%
    8. Repeat steps 2-4
    9. Screen brightness does not change.

    Is this the intended operation?

  • Thank you!!! Unless engineering tells me otherwise, if so, I will update everyone on this thread. I do not believe the flashlight behavior is intended to act the way it does. (I am going by our prior generations of the Instinct series and other outdoor watches and how the flashlight feature behaves.)
