Likewise. I'm pretty impressed with the ongoing support for the Fenix 7. It certainly seems more active than it was for my Fenix 5+ at this point in its lifecycle.

I'm relatively new to the show(3 months), but what I witnessed so far are a lot of severe issues that seem to be unaddressed for months or even years that totally destroy some features (in my case I had a battle for weeks now to get to know why my Fenix crashes when the navigation is started), and at the same time you get a feeling of total ignorance about those issues.

I'm a dev myself, I have a higher tolerance and understanding for such issues than normal people I'd say, and I have bought the previous version, not the 8 and payed a fraction of those prices.

Can't imagine how some customers feel about the Software quality issues.

Things have gotten a bit better. Yesterday I've just had a crash while trying to connect to WLAN lol, but I some time earlier they were everywhere. Doing regular workout, crash, saving activity, crash, taking watch off during activity, white screen pin lock, clicking around me search, crash, starting navigation, crash or at best out of memory.

I'm sure they have good engineers but it feels like quality control is bad, maybe test automation is hard with all these devices and the low level programming, not sure but customers feel it and I hope things will improve.

 Version 5.21 had removed all my paired devices. 

No issue here maintaining pairing for 9 devices including Epix Gen2 on 25.11, tactix 7 Standard on 25.11, tactix 7 AMOLED on 25.11

iPhone 16 Pro Max on iOS 26.2.1

It's amazing that Garmin regularly releases firmware updates for watches like Fenix 7, and the changelog always mentions that bugs were fixed, yet somehow certain posters magically never have issues and they seem to believe that everyone else is just whining.

Wonder why Garmin bothers to release firmware updates at all, since any and all bugs are either non-existent or inconsequential. 

EDIT: I count 5 fixed issues where the device would shutdown or reboot at inappropriate times. That's just bonkers.

EDIT2: I see that Garmin finally updated the Golf activity to let users turn off auto laps (a feature which makes zero sense in a *golf* activity). Someone complained about this 8 months ago....

Hey at least they're fixing stuff, but the fact that they fix stuff proves:

- things were broken in the first place

- at least some user complaints are valid

It's not like they're spending all this time and money just to shut up some whiners on the forums amirite ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Keep in mind DC Rainmaker is a guy whose livelihood revolves around reviewing mostly Garmin products, and he has a relationship with Garmin (at least he talks to them directly from time to time). 

I'll let you be the judge of whether that headline would make sense in 2026.

I'm a dev too, and in a way it makes these issues even more frustrating, because you can sometimes kind of see how they could've been avoided. You can also see the same bugs being fixed and coming back again over the years, and you can see issues apparently stemming from bad design or legacy code that's 10-20 years old.

I'm sure the engineers are passionate and capable, but as an organization, it doesn't seem Garmin is good at software or UI/UX. 

Definitely seems to be a lack of integration testing when you see some of these regressions pop back up again, but why complain in a thread which is a thank you to the devs that are doing their best to maintain the devices we enjoy? That's a little sad.

As a developer , I truly agree this post. This devices are awesome!!
