I've installed Open Sea Maps on mine (openseamap.org/index.php). I'm a dinghy sailer, so haven't tried to link it with a chart plotter.
Auto-pilot control from the watch would be super nice and I'm pretty sure you can control a Garmin autopilot via the connect app you can install: Check out this app from the Garmin Connect IQ Store apps.garmin.com/.../00aa0c38-6eed-4822-89b0-01b4bdab2501
Edit: it looks like that Connect IQ app is actually connecting to the chart plotter for the auto-pilot control
