Notifications covering the screen while stopwatch is running on Fenix 7 series

On the Fenix 7 series, and probably many other series, when a notification comes in from the phone while the stopwatch is running, the entire screen gets covered by that notification. However, stopwatches are often used to measure seconds, or even milliseconds. Everything gets messed up by an interrupting notification just when you're about to measure the duration of something important. By the time you press the back button, exit the notification, everything you were measuring is gone. Even if there wasn't a solution for back button, I might be okay with the notification taking up half the screen, as long as I could still see the seconds at that moment. This is an incredible UX flaw, especially for a brand like Garmin that produces athlete-focused products.

  • What's the problem? Just turn Bluetooth off on the watch (and switch DND on in the case you're using activity alerts …) and any notifications will stop while using the stopwatch or in any other situation you don't want to be notificated. But don't blame Garmin on this - I'm sure some other users really want to receive urgent notifications even when using the stopwatch. For some people the notifications are more important, and for some others like you the measurement is more important. So Garmin can't please everyone at the same time, and it's your own responsibility to stop notifications in any situation you don't want them.

  • The problem is the watch programming is supposed to be smart and should do that on it's own and offer an option to do so.

No, you'd have people complaining that they weren't receiving notifications whilst the stop watch was running.

Your ability to customise the notification behaviour is literally built into the notification toggle. Just turn it off. Nothing needs to be automated. You just need to exercise a modicum of lateral thought before coming to the forums to rage.

  • I don't want to have to set my watch to 'Do Not Disturb' twenty times a day. I just want the option for half-screen notifications or to disable notifications for specific applications. It shouldn't be that hard.

  • I've been looking for a solution to this issue for 2 years before coming to this forum. I've opened countless tickets and read numerous articles. All I want is to get a half-screen notification while the stopwatch is running, which is a feature present in all other brands. Adding this setting is a very simple thing. Even brands new to the market have it. I've been struggling with this problem since the Fenix 3.
