Anaerobic and Aerobic trainingeffect diagrams why not?

Long Long time a go, I use my garmin device with Windows based app where every workout must load by cabel. It was Firstbeat app..

In that app was both training effect (anaero & aero).

And in same workout diagram was HR curve was own curve for TE where yuo can see that point in workout where the highest value was reached (it was not all time at yhe end of workout).

Why this curve is not in garminconnect?

  • The TE is a value that only rises within a training session. Is that really something you'd wanna see in a curve? The highest value would obviously be at the end.

  • They could show the increment by time and not the absolute value, so you would see what part contributed the most.

  • Why this curve is not in garminconnect?

I'm pretty sure modern Garmins don't record aerobic or anaerobic training effect as they change over time to the activity FIT file, they only record the final [max] values for each of those metrics. You can verify this as follows:

    - open an activity in the Connect website

    - click on the gear icon (top-right corner) and click Export File [this will export the FIT file inside of a ZIP]

    - open https://www.fitfileviewer.com/, click Open FIT File, and open the file you exported

    - this will show you a detailed view of the data inside the FIT file, and you can see for yourself what values have been written continuously during the activity in the Record table (e.g. heart rate, cadence, distance, position coordinates, speed, performance condition, etc., but not training effect)

If you really want a graph of aerobic training effect in the Connect app, this can be accomplished via my 3rd-party data field, AppBuilder 5.

    1) Install AppBuilder 5 from the Connect IQ store

    2) Use the following settings (configure via the Connect IQ phone app):

Label: TE (or whatever you want)

    Formula: trainingeffect

    Display Format: Auto

Record Data to FIT File: Yes

    3) On the watch, open the activity profile of your choice [e.g. Run] and put AppBuilder 5 on one of your data pages. This will display your aerobic training effect as a number in the field, and record the value (as it changes over time) to the FIT file - this value will be displayed in Connect's activity details as a chart.

Unfortunately, anaerobic training effect is not available to 3rd party Connect IQ apps.

  •  When you remember the old days, are you sure you are talking about the same aerobic and anaerobic training effects as now (measured in 0.0-5.0)?

The current training effects are not linear, so getting from 0.5 to 1 requires much less effort than going from 3.5 to 4. So even with a steady state run, the training effect wouldn't grow steadily, but rather quickly in the beginning and more slowly at the end. So you couldn't tell which part contributed the most if you looked at a graph.
