Fenix 7s not compatible with multisport sync

Recent update yesterday.  Now I try to create a multisport workout either in computer or from my phone and when I try to sync to send the workout to the watch, it says that the watch is not compatible.  I am able to sync strength or running, but not multisport.  I have unpaired, repaired, restarted the watch and phone, updated all programs on all devices, deleted workouts, re-created workouts from the computer and the phone without any change.  I tried to use the calendar to schedule the workout without success.  Any help would be appreciated.

  • it says that the watch is not compatible

That's because it is not compatible with this type of workout. And won't ever be.

  • It was compatible a few days ago.  I think the update might have been buggy, there may be a work around.  This is what I’m looking for.  See the screen shot from garmin below showing compatibility with this type of workout.  Thanks.

  • That screenshot from the manual refers to a multisport activity profile, not a multisport structured workout. Notice how the word "workout" does not appear anywhere in the screenshot. Yes, in some contexts, people use "workout" synonymously with "activity", but they mean different things in the Garmin ecosystem.

    - "Activity": a session of a single sport like running, cycling, or swimming. Garmin watches support recording timed activities with sensor data like GPS and heart rate

    - "Activity profile": the settings and functionality related to a type of activity

    - "Multisport activity": an activity which consists of multiple legs / sports / activity profiles (with optional transitions between legs). e.g. triathlon

    - "Workout" / "programmed workout" / "structured workout": a series of predefined work/rest/recovery steps to be applied to an activity. e.g. 8 reps of 800m run, with 90 seconds rest between reps. Normal workouts only apply to a single sport.

    - "Multisport workout": same as a workout, but consists of multiple legs, each of which applies to a specific sport.

Select Garmin watches have supported multisport activities for 10+ years (Fenix watches have always supported multisport activities).

Multisport structured workouts are a new feature that was introduced with Forerunner 970 (released this month)

DCR confirmed that multisport structured workouts are also coming to Fenix 8, Enduro 3, and Tactix 8, but not Forerunner 265, 965, Fenix 7 Pro, or Epix Pro series. Should probably be clear that even older watches (such as Fenix 7s) are also out of the picture.

It was compatible a few days ago.

If Connect said it was compatible a few days ago, that was probably a bug. If you had somehow synced a multisport workout to your watch, the watch never would've been able to use that workout.
