Fenix 7X Pro stuck in restart loop after 21.19 update

I got a notification that an update is ready (not sure if it is exactly 21.19). After upgrading, the watch restarted and started loading maps (up to Map 26).

That part looked normal at first, but the watch keeps repeating the restart and loading sequence — it has not stopped since.

Does anyone know:

  1. How to fix this issue?

  2. How to downgrade to the latest stable version?

This is very disappointing — getting an update that ends up bricking the watch.

  • I tried the hard reset but it still goes back into the loop.

  • It seems like you are stuck on "loading maps". This seems to be a rather common issue with these watches. What often helps is to remove all map img files from the GARMIN folder of the watch via USB connection to the PC. You can get the watch onto USB mode by turning it off and starting it with the USB cable connected and while holding the start button down.

You can reinstall all maps afterwards.

  • Hello. I am sorry to hear you are having this issue. I would first recommend trying the following steps:

    • Try connecting with the power cable. While connected, try powering the watch.
    • If this continues, I would recommend factory reset with these steps:
    1. Ensure the watch is powered off.
      • You may need to hold LIGHTfor up to 30 seconds to turn the watch off.
    2. Press and hold BACK and START/STOP.
    3. Press LIGHT to power the watch on while holding these two buttons.
    4. After the first beep release START/STOP.
    5. After the second beep release the remaining button.

If you are still having trouble, I would recommend reaching out to Garmin Product Support.
