Hey everyone,
I’ve been having a strange issue with my Fenix 7X Pro SS. Some mornings, right after waking up, I notice that I’ve already burned around 120 active calories, even though I haven’t done any exercise at all.
When I check the heart rate graph in Garmin Connect, there’s no significant increase in HR during sleep – it stays low and steady most of the night. But then, under the graph, there’s a brief spike to something like 215 bpm, which seems to appear without any real reason.
A few details:
-
Resting HR is around 43 bpm (also confirmed by the sleep graph).
-
The HR spike is usually not visible on the graph timeline, but the max HR number clearly shows up.
-
The watch is worn snugly and in good condition.
-
No intentional movement or workouts during the night.
It seems like this one false spike causes Garmin to think I was very active and starts counting calories way too early in the day.
Just to add some context – I often leave my HRM-PRO Plus strap in the bathroom next to my bedroom, and it sometimes stays a bit wet after a workout.
Is it possible that the strap somehow interferes with my heart rate data by connecting to my phone during the night?
On my watch, I always disable the external HR strap after workouts, so it shouldn't be used overnight – but could it still be messing with the data?
Is anyone else experiencing this? Is there a fix or explanation for this kind of random HR spike and calorie miscalculation? Should I factory reset the device?
