Can Inline Skating receive some attention again?

The following issues have been reported in this section, through the Ideas Form and as bug reports in numerous Beta versions since 15.xx. You read correctly.

There’s not a workout session where I don’t encounter these issues neglected time and time again while having Connect App 5.11.1 and Fenix 7 latest public software update. With bringing this up I hope to finally receive a solution for this from Garmin as well as for others that rely on their Garmin watch and native Inline Skating activity for their recreational and racing purposes.

1. I have to start a workout through the Workout app because the workout library wasn’t added when Inline Skating was launched as a new activity profile. Training library was also forgotten but was shortly added after reporting its abscence compared to ‘Other’ and ‘Ice skating’.

2. After starting my custom workout I always have to select between ‘Outdoor’ and ‘Indoor’ twice. Every single time…

3. After choosing ‘Outdoor’ a second time the watch freezes into the Warm-up notice screen while the workout runs in the background. It’s not until the workout step finishes or I pause and resume the activity that it goes to my data screens.

4. Discovering the sub-lap feature using auto lap (distance) has been a wonderful happy accident, but the screen that appears tries to mix my selected lap screen with the default screen for auto-laps. If it could be fixed or edited as the regular lap screen it would be a much better feature. One good thing of this is that it saves me the hassle of using Strava to analyze lap times with its segment feature.

And then in Connect there are still some features that are missing because and others are thanks to Other being the activity profile under which Inline Skating is located.

1. Self-evaluation and Execution score is hidden in the activity once it’s opened in Connect mobile.

2. Average Heart Rate isn’t visible when viewing a custom workout’s activity ‘Intervals’ section in an horizontal layout from Connect mobile. This is where Strava’s segment feature still has the edge over relying solely on Garmin for workout analysis.

Of course, all of this can be viewed from Connect Web, but I personally don’t use it over Connect Mobile. To me that’s the whole point of the app, right?

  • 15.xx–23.xx and no changes to this still.

The 20.12 beta for Fenix 8 announced “Added Inline Skating Compatibility for Custom Workouts.” Can’t say for sure what that refers to, although It’d be disappointing to have this fixed in a new model when it’s been reported from the beginning of the profile even before F8 was released. Not to say that having to push for this for more than a year now hasn’t been dissapointing, but that’s why betas are made.

The necessary attention has already been received through tickets and  , receiving this message from her back in 22.xx:

“Thank you so much, for taking the time to collect these details. I have reported this information to our engineers. Once there are any updates or solutions, I will reach out again.“

Past betas that worked on Inline Skating proved that these aren’t difficult issues to solve, so what is keeping this from being resolved all this time?
