Battery life V20.16 and V20.22 reduced

With v20.16 and v20.22 i had a much lower battery life. on average with v20.22 i lose 0.5% per hour. with version v17.28 only 0.2% per hour. So that's more than halved the time!

I even put back the old version17.28 I have twice as much time again! So it is not a hardware problem. But clearly related to the latest updates. Why does Garmin fail to release stable updates? That is really not what I expect when you spend so much money on a watch!

Anyone with the same problem?

regards,

ivan.

  • For Fenix 7 PRO series only: Hello. I am sorry to hear you are having this issue. If you are seeing a significant reduction in your battery life, our engineers would love to help investigate this further. For this, please feel free to reach out to me via Private Message. I would happy to collect the details of this concern.

For Fenix 7 Non-Pro series: We are sorry you are experiencing rapid battery drain on your watch. Please see the following FAQ for recommendations and troubleshooting steps Why is My fēnix 7 or fēnix 7 Pro Watch Battery Draining Quickly? and if you continue to experience accelerated battery drain after using the device for at least a week, we can reset your device to default settings only. This will not delete any saved data.

  • Hello, users experiencing issues with the battery life of their Fenix 7 Pro watches can write directly to Laurie-Garmin for permission to investigate any issues that may be occurring in the watch and affecting its normal battery life.

I understand this would help us all because it could gather a wide variety of valuable information regarding the use and behavior of the watch and its battery, potentially leading to the detection and correction of any internal memory leaks.

  • The same problem here with Fenix 7X Sapphire, I do not have massive battery drain, but with version 20.22 I need to charge my watch every week, 1 year ago I was doing it every 2 weeks and currently I train less, nothing changed regarding settings, the same watch face. This watch has 2 years so if it works according to specs battery should be like new, even if I charge it every week it's only 100 charge cycles.

  • It's not that I'm defending the poor performance of the new FW, but the Fenix 8 in 51mm is worse. I only used it for 2 days and the battery was at 85% (15% consumed, 2 walking activities). There's no way my Fenix 7x consumes that much.
