7x sapphire solar wrong altitude when Automatic calibration is On

My Fenix 7x Is autosetting elevation (or barometer pressure, can't figure what) when bluetooth is enabled.

Elevation/pressure grow up about 80meters/12 hpa.

altimeter Is stable when i do walks or runs up Hill and Downhill.

when i enter the correct altitude the values on the barometer change too. (why?)

If I disable bluetooth on the phone or on the Watch altimeter/ pressure Is stable.

Upgraded firmware from 19 to 20.16 and now to 20.22.
Done master reset as suggested by chat support... but Is Always the same.

Seem software related and not an hardware failure.

Someone else with this 'feature'? is a known bug? I found many posts about altimeter wrong elevation but no solutions, can't believe that all this watches are broken.

    correct!

  • After some days and a bit of testing I can say that the change of altitude with the insertion of an incorrect value occurs only if I set the automatic calibration to On on the watch. If I set it to every evening this does not happen.
I left the watch in automatic calibration on every evening until yesterday afternoon.
Yesterday afternoon I set the automatic calibration to on,
this is the result detected this morning.

I live at an altitude of approximately 690-695 metres

I live near this airport https://metar-taf.com/LIMW, about 4 km as the crow flies, but at a different altitude.

Is my fenix broken or is there some software component that erroneously pushes these values?

Could this malfunction be due to an incorrect entry of the barometric value when performing the self-calibration?

  • when i enter the correct altitude the values on the barometer change too. (why?)

Because the watch shows the Mean Sea Level Pressure, which means when you change the altitude, the calculation of the MSLP from the ambient pressure changes too.
