Fenix 7 not auto-connecting to external HR monitor and Stryd footpod anymore after lastest update

Since the last update with the "secure" devices, my Fenix 7 does not auto-connect anymore as it used to do. If I connect to it manually, it works - but of course this is a workaround I dont like to do all the time, this is very annoying.

I connect it to my Polar HR monitor and my Stryd footpod. Worked flawlessly, now the latest update broke it. It searches forever but doesnt connect automatically anymore...

As far as I understand, removing it and adding it again does NOT fix the issue - is this correct? Will this be fixed with an update? Has Garmin already acknowledged the issue at least?

They knew about that bug even befor the software was released from the beta forum. Yet they did not fix it and rolled it out to all users anyways. So they are aware at least. If they will fix it I dont know. They didn't in the first place....

It's a corporate strategy to show stakeholders outstanding numbers of customers who've happily migrated to bug-free fenix 8.

In another thread (https://forums.garmin.com/outdoor-recreation/outdoor-recreation/f/fenix-7-series/403875/external-sensors-don-t-auto-connect-hrm?pifragment-1292=9#pifragment-1292=10) Garmin acknowledged this Bug one day ago and said they are working on it. Its annoying of course but on the other hand I am confident that they will fix it eventually. So I'll just wait this out. Thank you for your answers!

Update February 28, 2025:

Our engineers are aware of a concern that may cause external sensors to fail to automatically reconnect, once paired. This is a software related concern. If you are experiencing this, your device will not need to be replaced. This will be corrected with a future software update release. I will post again with more information when available.

I'm also experiencing the same issue with my Fenix 7S and HRM Ant+. It started after the 20.16 upgrade. I noticed this during an activity last Tuesday. I tried to manually connect to the ANT+ device but it failed. However I see that I have vertical movement & ground contact time while the BPS are garbage (much lower than expected so I thought it was coming from the wrist sensor).

This morning it paired automatically but the data was garbage again, I was at 175bpm for 8 minutes whe I'm usually around 125 ... And it did not decrease so I had to disconnect and perform the activity with the wrist sensor. I tried to turn the HRM on again at the end of the activity and the FC was around 126bpm.

Has anyone also got this garbage data problem or is my sensor dying ?

I did change my mind and installed the update - I can confirm that the newest beta-update fixed the issue, thank you!

Update March 6, 2025:

Our engineers are aware of a concern that may cause external sensors to fail to automatically reconnect, once paired. They are indicating that this is fixed with the latest Live software update version 20.22. if you are experiencing this issue, you can update the watch using Garmin Express.
