Wireless Version 0.00

I bought a 1k Garmin Fenix 7x sapphire solar 2.5 years ago, I recently updated my watch to 20.16 and it basically bricked my watch. It won't connect to any Bluetooth devices or wifi. The wireless version is 0.00 while it should be something completely different. Garmin supports solution is to spend 240$ on a replacement since I'm technically out of warranty. Has anyone else found a solution to this problem? I've done all the factory resets and that jazz. I can't buy a device this expensive just to have it randomly break two years later. Garmin needs to get their software updates under control.

Didn't work. I'm just curious if the wireless 0.00 has to do with software or hardware. If it's hardware there's nothing I can do.

If i can add something, this is the responsability of Garmin if the problem occured after an upgrade.

even more if the upgrade if force by the company.

They are playing it off as it's not though,hence them asking for 240$ for replacement. Every thread I've read about this issue though ALWAYS comes after an update.

0.00 means it was not installed properly.
If hidden mode doesn't work only option for you might be, downgrade SW version installing it via cable and install new version again.
Downside of this solution is, that you will need to configure your watch again but backup might help and speed it up.

they are logs on your watch and if the WiFi component failed after force update by Garmin it is not your fault.

Then request Garmin to extract that info to prove if the device failed during normal use or because of the update.

in the second situation this is the responsibility of the manufacturer.

Please note that you have to downgrade (and then upgrade) also the complementary firmware packages. Not sure whether Wi-Fi is in the SNS package, or in an independent one. Unlike the main update file, the complementary packages have to be put into the folder //GARMIN/RemoteSW/

Alright my watch has been fixed thanks to a forum member who helped me downgrade my software. My wireless version is now 28.27 and I can connect to wifi and Bluetooth. Garmin support DID NOT help find a solution to this problem, in fact they wanted to charge me 240$ to replace a perfectly good watch that needed a bug in it's software to be fixed. I am pretty disappointed in how Garmin support was so willing to take advantage of me and of their lack of knowledge in how to fix an issue.
