Garmin Watch and Pool Swimming, Chlorine

Hi !

I want to post a comment about using Garmin Watches with DLC in pool swim activities and water with chlorine.

Because I didn't find a good topic or discussion which describes this situation, I would post my experience for other people who have dilemma wether use or not to use the Garmin watches in pool with chlorine.

I have a Fenix 7 , Titanium DLC

Swim about 30 times x 1 hour in pool water with chlorine with this watch.

Always rinsed and washed the watch with clean water after swimming.

After 30 hours in pool water I see:

- color degradation of the DLC , the black DLC became slightly faded into grey and have a brown glare, reflection on sun

- same the black buttons covered with black color - color degradation

- the behaviour of buttons changed, probably due to chlorine water getting inside; I think that if I will continue to regularly use the Fenix 7 in pool, the chlorine could damage the water resistance in butotns

- the silicone band is corrupted too, but that is normal

- some people say that chlorine could destroy the altimeter and barometer too (mine are working good for now)

- no mechanical damage to watch

Final decission, if you love your watch and want it shine for a long time:

- consider using a secondary watch for pool swim activities (yeah, a garmin watch too :) )

Hope this topic will help somebody in the future. I could be grateful if somebody told me this info before.
