Body Battery on watch changes all activities to running

Hi,

Recently, when I open body battery on my watch, all activities are changing to "running" instead of walking, biking etcetera.
I never started the activity running.

In the Garmin connect app on my phone it still states the different activities such as walking, biking, trailrunning.
The issue started with recent upgrade.

Any ideas?

Thanks

  • Hi, I have had my vivoactive 5 since Jan 23, and this has been happening for a few months now. I spoke to someone else on here that said his body battery was labeling all activities as “XC ski”. I still have been unable to get a fix for this issue.
All activities are showing in Connect properly……but recently in the last few days I’ve been having even worse glitches with both body battery and the stressed status. Everytime my watch syncs with my phone, all activity will be erased from body battery or all lumped into one random activity like “walk”. The stress data is getting totally erased as well. Or changing by the second like from 14 to 79 to 40? I am not sure what to do.

  • It's amazing that this still hasn't been fixed.

  • Hi,

I can also confirm I have the exact issue! Stress data is getting lost upon syncing with connect as well in both the body battery and the stress glances.

Since the new update I have noticed worse glitches, now it’s erasing activities all together from my body battery. As well as the step count/miles being totally inaccurate.

Also morning report is coming on at night after I do a breathing exercise, then it’s not tracking my sleep. Super annoying .

  • Update April 24, 2025:

Our engineers are aware of an issue that may remove the body battery history or display the incorrect activity type in the body battery. They are indicating that this concern has been escalated. They are anticipating a software update that will fix this will be released mid-May.

  • No, it's not amazing, it's Garmin. LOL. Except sadly it's becoming ever more not funny. The weather widget dew point has been broken for anyone on Celsius for nearly two years! The dew point could be 28C, where heat stroke risk is serious risk and it'll still say "Pleasant". Switch to Fahrenheit and boom it works. A simple bug that would be simple for them to fix.

Clearly something is seriously wrong with the Garmin engineering team. If their coders can't fix simple bugs like the above, we have no hope of them fixing tougher ones. I'm certainly no going to pay $2000AUD for something like that -- I will be not replacing my Fenix 7 with another Garmin product. Over the last year or so serious bugs keep piling up (anyone remember the GPS activity battery drain disaster with v18.14)!? And they are taking longer to fix them. Not a good trajectory.

  • Update May 23, 2025:

Our engineers have indicated this has been resolved with the latest Live public SW update version 21.19. So if you are experiencing this, you can install this update using Garmin Express.

  • Thank you . Just to be clear, as I did a bit of a faux pas and cross-posted here, did you mean the Body Battery issue is fixed (which I can confirm on my end) or was the very long standing dew point comfort level bug I mentioned fixed? I can't test the latter because it's winter here so the dew point is always <10C.

  • This Thread is about the body battery. No idea how the dew point thing made it in here.

  • Dear @Garmin-Laurie,

At first it looks good, but it seems that not all activities are registered automatically on the watch. The activity registers in Garmin Connect. When manually syncing Connect with watch, the activity is registered on the watch.
I also had strange body battery netto-impact (-27 for a 1.8k / 1.1mile walk). But this could be an exception.

Will keep checking and if issue continues, I will reach out again.
Thanks so far in tackling the initial problem.
