  • Would it be possible to have the same interface than Fenix E (same hardware or am I wrong?)

  • Fenix E is a rebranded Epix 2 non-pro non-sapphire.

Fenix 8 and all models since 2021 used the same hardware platform, CPU and sub-components for most of them.

so i'ts Garmin decision not to offer new features nor new OS to F7 Series (entire family including MARQ2, Epix 2, Enduro , etc.)

    ---

Maybe they could provide 2 things

    • Actual System Branch, for bugfix & security fix only
    • New 1 OS for thos customer OK to enroll
  • Yes it would be great ! Je croise les doigts Slight smile

  • The 965 is still the latest Forerunner model. The Fenix 7 two models old now.

Garmin want to keep selling the 965. Garmin don't want to keep selling the Fenix 7 and instead want you to buy an 8.

The Fenix sells more units than the Forerunner 9xx, hence the Fenix gets refreshed more often to keep the sales ticking off.

I get that people are upset because they no longer have the latest model after a year or so, but it's kinda like buying a Toyota Camry and then becoming upset once the model gets refreshed in 12 months time.

Ya'll can get mad at me for pointing this out, but it's is how consumer driven markets work. Oh, if you want to point out that "Apple provides new features to the Apple Watch <N> which is <N> years old, remember that the Apple Watch is a device that locks the consumer into staying within the Apple ecosystem, keeping them buying new phones, Apple streaming services, airpods, apps etc. They can afford to barely break even with the Apple Watch, perhaps even run at a loss with it due to its ability to lock people in. Garmin don't operate this way and only make money when you buy a new device.

Garmin NEED you to buy that new Fenix, so the tasty carrot of new features will always be dangling in front of you, tempting you, telling you that you need it, that you're deserve to splurge on that new silly feature that won't actually make you fitter. It's upto you to resist that and only buy the watch you NEED for your training and lifestyle.

  • Garmin - we plan on trashing this thread like we did the last. Maybe just close it out and link to the old one. There won't be any new ideas - just a repeat of the old complaints and attempted justifications.

  • Garmin MARQ, tactix and quantix are also still the last models in their series, and even more expensive than Fenix 7 - (especially the most expensive MARQ series). Explain to me what Garmin wants from these customers? They are not able to buy a newer watch from the series and they do not receive "full" updates.

Users need transparency regarding the series of watches, update policy and at least an explanation from Garmin about the situation with updates.

And what do we get? Blocking/locking threads. Are you really going to defend Garmin to the end after what they are doing now?

One comment from Garmin a few months ago regarding this situation was enough and there would be no such drama now.
