ECG on compatibile watches i EU

Dear Garmin

Why only new watches like Fenix 8 / Enduro 3 and Venu 3 officialy got ECG app in EU, when Fenix 7 Pro and Epix Pro series have the same Elevate gen 5 sensor (and working ECG outside EU).

Do you plan to add ECG app on every compatibile model like rest of the world ?

If Garmin does not make the ECG available in Eu on the Fenix 7 Pro this will be my last Garmin product I will never buy a product from these speculators again, I spent 900 euros a year and a half ago…

if that's the case, it's a shame on Garmin's part :-(
Moreover, why did they implement it on Fenix 7 pro in some countries and now that Europe has given its GO we wouldn't be entitled to it…

No. They already approved the combination of sensor and app and don’t care in which watch model they are built in. See DCRs article on how EU approval works.

It is Garmin‘s business decision to release or not release ECG functionality on F7/E2 Pro models. Nothing to do with the EU.

They "accidently" released it in France january 2024.

before fenix 8 and it was on F7/E2 models but then "silently" removed it as it was "a mistake" so they can easely release it on F7/E2 but it is a matter of will and time...

stressing people out so we can check it on our ECG afterwards

I hope my F7 investment was not a mistake...

When trying to "get it today",, a lot of us are stuck in the setup process - see a long thread in this forum. Maybe the hardware which was delivered to EU was faulty for the ECG and Garmin launched ECG late also because it could plain not work on some batches.

Anyway, our warranty is long gone and I guess we won't be able to claim any repair.

Overall, Garmin management of ECG is at minimum not efficient, certainly opaque and not respectful of consumers. Just compare with Apple ECG.

remember that in the first place it is a commercial company, it is all about making profits.

The users are less important, if they have "the power" to decide on wether a product is followed up and supported correctly with necessary and extra upgrades then we can only hope and see what time will bring...

the F7 pro is a real good watch but improvements are available and it would be a shame not to provide them to their users and clients.

After all the model isn't "old" and if hardware issues are the problem then they need to get straight forward about it.

With FW 20.16 finally ECG is available in the EU!

this has nothing to do with FW 20.16. I'm on FW 17.28 and got ECG recently in Europe. It was just a matter of the certification process, not a FW upgrade

Fenix 7Pro does support and enabled to use ECG in most of EU of not all.

As sais in another thread, I could replace my defect F7Pro SS, and all is working now. Thank you Garmin.
