Fenix 7X Pro Solar Sapphire solar charge doesn't works

Hello There, I bought a Fenix 7x Pro Solar Sapphire, and I have put it in the sun, the widget shows 100% intensity and the battery 70% I left it for an hour and a half and when I came back it was at 69.5% and in battery saving. How long do you have to leave it charging to advance 1% in battery saving mode? Is the charge damaged? Because in the battery charge widget during that time did not report anything charger only downloadappreciate your help.

  • Hi,

it doesn't actually charge the battery of your watch when exposed to sun light, but slows down the battery drain.

  • Oh well, what a scam, because the page where they promote themselves said that even if the watch was completely downloaded it would charge it. Even if it is a little...

  • For Fenix for sure the Solar cannot charge it, due its small size of the solar panel, but for Instinct series, I know for sure it can make a difference in its battery life.

For example, when Instinct is exposed to sunlight long enough, it will show you an infinite sign  on the battery life.

  • I understand, too bad they don't specify well. As I said,  feels like cheated. And how can I verify that the battery is really getting longer, where can I see the effect of the solar charge, how can I check that it is working and that the watch is not damaged? Thank you very much for your kind answers.

  • I have put it in the sun, the widget shows 100% intensity and the battery 70% I left it for an hour and a half and when I came back it was at 69.5% and in battery saving.
    • Did you turn off the watch? If not, it can continue consuming more power than coming from the solar panel
    • Was the watch outside, or inside behind a window? Window glass filters significant parts of the sunlight spectrum, hence reduces the solar input
    • Did you cool down the watch? If the watch lays freely under the Sun, without being cooled down by your skin, it easily overheats, which slows down or even completely halts the charging
  • Where did you get that it can’t charge it?… yes it can charge it… 100-150k lux hours in battery saver mode means +1% battery. And i tested it many times. On a sunny day you get 150k lux hours in 1 hour. You restart the watch and you see +%. Guys when you tell any information to somebody make sure its right.

  • I'm going to run the tests to see if the data resembles what you tell me. I don't know much, that's why I'm asking. Also Garmin is not clear about this issue. There are no apps to easily keep track of the solar charge, which I would expect to be able to see as it is innovative. Neither in the manual or anywhere. That's why I ended up here. Thank you very much for the help.

  • My reply was to Lyubomir who told you that for sure it cannot charge it. Yea try it:) You just need to restart the watch to see +%. And after around 150k lux hours in battery saver mode you will definitely see +1% after restart. It charges even more when it's turned off but you will not see the lux hours gained in the widget. And yea it would be nice if we could see the battery percentage gained in the widget too.

  • It doesn't make any sense to keep it in battery saver mode, since it will act as a normal watch without any smart functions or wellness monitoring. If thats the case, better get a Casio ProTrek or GShock and then you will have a normal watch and infinite battery. As for a normal operation of Fenix watches with Solar panels, they cannot be charged, the solar can only slow the battery consumption. Like I already said in the beginning.

  • Mine does not charge when left on a windowsill.  on same windowsill my Casio tough solar watches do as do my Citizen Eco Drive and Orient Solar watches.
