I have loaded Topoactive Europe through Garmin Express onto my new Fenix 7 Solar. When I try to open the map through map manager it says an update is required and additional disc space is required. Any help appreciated

  • Whwn Topoactive Europe is chosen and download starts, it says it is Mainland China that is downloading. Then it is no space left to Europe. Anyone having the same problem?

  • You can best contact Garmin Support to help out, there are too many factors involved for me to give any advice here.

  • I will, thank you.

To anyone experiencing the same: Four times downloaded Topomap Europe; first installed Mainland China, next Greenland, then Kongo, then nothing happens when confirming the download option.

  • Die 7x ist mit der aktuellen Software im Bezug auf Karten und Navigation nicht zu gebrauchen,  sprich sie ist in Bezug absolut wertlos.

  • My experience with maps updating via Garmin Express was that after an update via Express all my maps were mostly gray without detail, completely unusable, and when I went back in Express, there was only one map available and it was not for my region.

Over the last few months I read quite a few reports here about getting the wrong maps or maps with completely wrong themes. My advice to all of you is to get in touch with Garmin Support (again) and persist, because they have to become aware of the problem so they will solve it.

I assume that the available maps are tied to the serial number of the watch. Maybe the list of maps to update has become incorrect for some users. Perhaps it helps to delete the device from your account, create a new account, uninstall Garming Express, delete everything on the PC that was from Garmin Express, then sync via a new GE install and the new account. That - I think - should retrieve the proper list of maps that your device has rights to use. If it works, detach device from new account and connect it to the old one. Then never update via Express again. I didn't try the route with the new account, I copied the correct maps from another device I own.
