F7, 19.34, altitude calibration failed (DEM)

Hi,

I just try, at home because i now that my watch should indicate 79m using DEM. And was working in the past months for me.

Watch : F7X ss

System : 19.34

Glances  "ABC", secondary screen indicate 59m of elevation

• GPS fix
• then DEM .... endless circle for minutes
  • but swipe from left to right
    • Calibrate indicate the right elevation "79m" waiting for my confirmation

Garmin-Laurie what do you think of that ?

So something is partially broken with DEM calibration, no issue with GPS at my side

Can you confirm this is what your encounter on your device ?

For your information DEM is system info, not relevant to Maps, but i don't know how to update/reinstall it. In the past this was a separated file but since F7 gen, it's hidden.

• If I start the calibration (from glance Altimeter) and perform no action, after 2 minutes or so it fails with the message: no DEM elevation available
• if I start the calibration, wait 30s and make a swipe L to R it shows the right elevation and waits for confirmation

Thanks for confirming the issue and add more precision.

Now we have to push it to Garmin attention.

I would have sworn that I saw it in the garmin folder of my Enduro 2. 

But even if I am wrong and there is no img for dem, I would simply choose a map reinstall in Garmin Express to make it re-download as a hidden file. It costs no burden, just some time of waiting.

you right, in the past (Fenix 6) DEM was always updated with Coverage (CourseView, Golf) udpate.

Sure but  I was speaking about Enduro 2(!!!!) which is identical with F7X non-pro and not with F6.

The pair  of F6 was Enduro, but it did not have maps, nor dem file as an img.

already tried with no luck

i know, but no possibility for me to track DEM version since F7 Series

Looks like 19.34 (initially) broke my APAC F7X SS DEM too. I start an activity, select DEM to calibrate, the circle would spin for over a minute before returning DEM Altitude Is Unavailable. But here's the thing, it then proceeds to return a value that's not the same as the Compass or GPS. The Compass Widget is showing -12m, GPS calibration returns 34m and the unavailable DEM returns 27m. 

So I persisted with DEM calibration using various outdoor activities – Run, Walk, Hike, Trail Running – eventually got DEM working again. It doesn't say DEM Not Available anymore but each DEM calibration seems to take longer than usual compared to when it was working normally.
