about Garmin accessories quality

At that price, I would return it and buy two more of the cheaper ones.

Reading here and there, even years ago, someone else raised the flag, but it seems that Garmin does not care about this problem.

Even the Garmin brand 26mm silicone strap for my Fenix 6X leaves a gap of 1 mm that annoys the perfectionist in me.

I’ve never looked too closely at the Garmin velcro band I bought but it was only the one. I now only use third party Velcro bands. As noted they are substantially cheaper and do the job just as well. 

That said I would not use a third party strap with Quick Fit. I did once and nearly lost a watch when sea swimming. Sometimes it worth paying for quality. 

There are certainly quality differences in non-Garmin quickfit straps, always stresstest these things before use! (twist in weird angles, tug on them).

@Dr Phil: Do you swim with Velcro straps? The Velcro strap that came with the Fenix 2 did not 'stick' well at all when it got wet and I never tried Velcro+swimming again.

I have the same problem. A few days ago, I bought it and only noticed that there’s a gap of 1 mm. I measured it with a ruler, and it turned out to be 21 mm. Garmin seems to be missing almost 1 mm. I don’t understand how such a big company didn’t notice this before release. Couldn’t they have checked it before launching the product? Or maybe this gap was intentionally made for some kind of tolerance or clearance. It’s hard to believe it’s a mistake, maybe it was done on purpose. But what’s the point?

All the time now. I have found that after about a year or so of swimming three or four times a week that the Velcro can get a bit loose. The loop straps do have the benefit of not going over the wrist if the Velcro does come adrift. But to be fair, the Velcro has only done that once or twice. Since the bands are so cheap I have no qualms about buying replacement after a year or so. 

I use Velcro loop straps as they will still stay on the wrist if the band undoes. But why would anyone risk a watch that costs several hundred dollars on a cheap quick fit strap of dubious quality?
