F7, 19.34, about saving Courses & Locations

Hi,
with 19.34 it should now be possible to add Courses and Locations to the backup, but on GC, GE and also on the watch these options are not available, so I have no idea where to enable them to proceed with the backup. Hints?

I can't answer your question, but saved locations and courses can also be backed up to a PC via USB (directories /Garmin/Locatns and /Garmin/Courses)

I think that's where the problem lies. When connected to Garmin Explore, courses and saved locations are managed with Garmin Explore. That is probably why there is a message to that effect. In other words…

So, I managed to get the option to include Courses and Saved Locations in the Backup by resetting the watch. Fortunately restoring the last Backup meant I did not have to go through and load all the settings…

Perfect!!

guys, GC has never managed waypoints (saved locations).

it makes sense that GC manage “fitness” related and GE “Navigation” ones.

But be prepared…

GE is horrible…

May I advise: backup your /Garmin/Locatns via USB to a pc/mac BEFORE you start using GE.

GE works with collections, and esp. when yiou have more than one device it is too easy to mess up and sync a (empty) collection to the wrong device.

I try to remove my watch from Gamrin Explore, but no luck with this watch backup feature for the moment.

I am rather surprised that Garmin does not answer/help with this issue. I've given up with GE, so many nuisances...

Not true. I have three devices, they sync flawlessly with GE. All you have to do is to choose not to sync all (sync selected) and choose different main collection for every device. You can also make other collections (I have a number of different locations) and turn sync for them or any other collections with specific device, when you need.

That's why I've completely removed my watches from Garmin Explore. Too often I've found duplicates, even triplicates of items on my watches. Maybe it works well with one watch but when you have two or more chaos seems to break loose.

Looks like it's not sufficient to remove the watch form Garmin Explore; it needs to be reset to break the connection. Weird...and a little annoying.

Garmin please document, and again Reset is not normal and should not have to be the solution for all situations
