Is it possible to downgrade the system software by several versions?

I've had my Fenix 7 SS for almost two years now, and while it was never great at tracking HR for my sorts of activities, about 14 months ago I had reached a point where it was mostly accurate during activities and within an acceptable margin otherwise.

However, since then it's gotten progressively worse with every update. Now, even during activities with the watch carefully placed and the settings carefully calibrated my heart rate rarely is detected as above 141, and even during vigorous exercise is frequently far lower. It's not unusual to see a HR around 65 right after doing a fast set of cleans, or after running up a hill. Now even the sleep tracking doesn't work, either recording no sleep or recording sleep while I'm walking around. In its current incarnation it's basically useless. (and before that one guy asks, I'm super pale with no tattoos etc that would block the optical sensor. I can see the blood vessels on the inside of my forearm just by glancing. I had gone through support to get it to the point where it was mostly working before, and the decline in performance is perfectly correlated with software updates, so yes, it absolutely is the software/firmware). I want to go back to whatever system software version it was 14 months ago but can find no way to do that.

TL;DR-  My Fenix 7 has lost functionality with every update for the past 14 months. Can I go back to the much older version where it actually worked?

It is not recommended to downgrade and it may not help with the issues.

You would have to obtain the update file (it has to be a full update file and not a delta update).

Caution: Subsystems as GPS, WFi, Sensor Hub etc may have been updated since the old version. These systems do not always accept a downgrade. This may introduce problems if the subsystem software is not compatible with the old main software (I think that will be rare, but it is a risk). CIQ will downgrade, and new apps and watchfaces may not work on the old CIQ. Old versions will work with Connect Mobile, but if you sync with Express you may receive an update whether you want it or not, in that case delete the update file from the device before it is installed.

  • We can tell that CIQ System 7 (API 5.0.x) is now mandatory if you use Store App/WF/DF ...

In terms of Fenix 7 of Fenix 7 OS, 16.xx and above
