Fenix 7 Pro ECG App no longer working.

I just got the message that the "ECG app is unavailable on beta software". I did enroll the beta software program on Garmin Connect. Would I have to factory reset my watch to get this working again?

  • You’ll need to un-enrol from the beta programme on Garmin Connect (web, not app) and revert back to current public release software if you’ve updated to a beta version - full details can be found on the beta thread on this forum

  • Hello

When running BETA software ECG is generally removed, unless otherwise stated in the BETA forum for that version. You would need to roll the software back to the previous fully released SW version to have access to ECG again. Be aware that rolling back you software will factory reset the watch as well. You may also want to unenroll from the BETA program to avoid the next BETA release from auto installing.

  • This is ridiculous -- I had no idea enrolling in the Beta would disable certain features of my watch, and it is not stated on the enrolment page. I'd just hoped to get a fix for the horrible nap tracking.

So you're telling me that 1. For some reason ECG isn't in beta, even though it's part of the *released* features of the watch? Why is this? and 2. There's no way to keep all my watch settings if I unenroll? This is also never made clear.

Please fix your beta enrolment so that this doesn't bite other people, it's a horrible experience and will make people unwilling to help provide data on new features.

  • Yes, thank you, but it's a bit late. Garmin never said that participating in this program would turn features of my watch fully off! Now I'm stuck.

Your reading of the warnings may be a bit late, but those warnings have been clear to most of us since the beginning of the Beta program.

And just how, exactly, are you "stuck?"

Simply leave the Beta program and downgrade to the latest public release software - all of your watch features will be available again.

If you are uncomfortable in a Beta program, then stay on public release software and avoid the risks.

  • Except the warning about ECG becoming non-functional was NOT present when I enrolled over a year ago. And indeed ECG worked until recently.

I'm not "uncomfortable" in the beta program; I'm flabbergasted that a beta program would disable features wholesale for participants. Yes, I'm aware that beta improvements might not work as intended (that's the purpose of a beta, to test on a wide constellation of users some of whom may have conflicting configs, and they learn from that) but that's very different than deliberate turning entire functionalities off preemptively.

I'm stuck because I can't get the feature back without factory resetting my watch. Even if I unenrolled now I'll still need to wait for the next major release to leave the program without doing that.

  • It's your choice:

    - Backdate your software to 22.06 (which will reset your watch) and enjoy ECG

    - Stay in Beta, don't reset your watch, and don't enjoy ECG

You're not stuck, you are just unwilling to fix the problem yourself.

  • P.S. to my last:

Go here: Beta Announcements Scroll to the bottom of the page, choose your watch model, and follow the insrtructions to backdate your software to the latest public release version

  • Yes, as my reply indicated, I am aware of how to unenroll. You didn't seem aware that it entails a factory reset, which is the root of my complaint. I'm glad we both have learned something here today!
