Don't you have the Battery Saver enabled during sleep?
Hi , no the only thing that activates is the sleep mode face as per the sleep times I set , I check the heart rate monitor is on when I get to bed but when I wake at some point through the night it’s off and I have to move the watch around to get it to re engage , the watch has a pretty snug fit on my wrist so I don’t see how it could be losing connection , it’s also worked without issue for many weeks before

If that is really the case, then it looks like there may be a bad contact - a loose or a corroded connector. I recommend reaching out to the Support, and see whether they can replace the device. If not, then opening the watch, disconnecting the sensor cable, cleaning the connector, and reassembling it may help, but if you have no experience with such tasks, I would not recommend trying it on your own. Rather find a workshop where they could do it for you.
Update November 22, 2024:
Our engineers were investigating reports of Sleep tracking not recording, even when HR and movement is recording throughout the night. They have indicated that this should now be resolved with the latest SW version 19.34. So if you have not already, you can install this update using Garmin Express.
Large amounts of movement throughout the night, high levels of stress, gaps in your HR recording, and inaccurate sleep times set can still negatively impact sleep tracking.
If you are still having trouble with the HR during sleep, I would recommend contacting Garmin Product Support as the device may need to be replaced.
