Hello Sam
I am sorry to hear you are having this issue. If the button is not working, we would recommend to first try washing the button. For this, submerge the watch in warm fresh water for 10 minutes. Then remove the watch from the water, and try pressing the button repeatedly.
You will also want to ensure the watch SW is on the latest version, using Garmin Express.
If there is not change, the watch will likely need to be replaced. For this, you will want to contact Garmin Product Support.
My Fenix 7S watch is now 1.5 years old and it's happened. Today. Again. Did the soaking, nothing harsh, now it seems to work again. But since this is the umpteenth time, I'm getting tired of a product that's supposedly (near) top of the line. I'm auto-backupping, because I don't want to lose data in the event of a factory reset. But truth be told: I want a replacement before my warranty is void and Im stuck with a bad watch.
