F7, questions about HRM

hello everyone,

a few days ago I decided to try my first ever Garmin and I chose a F7 because I found a good offer for a new one. I am still climbing the learning curve and I've a couple of simple questions about the HRM:

  1. reading here and there in the forum, when using an external HRM, as soon as you start an activity a pop-up message should appear saying the ext. HRM is connected. Unfortunately, I don't see any of that (Source Switching is off if that matters)
  2. when I start an activity, WOHR continues to work even if an external HRM is used. Is this normal (I think so because it has to do with the Source Switching feature)?

TIA

p.s. I'm on the latest fw i.e. 18.16

update: regarding point 2, the “issue” is solved by using an ad hoc Power Mode profile (e.g. Jacket) for the activity you want to do

  • This is my experience with my F7pro: when I initiate an activity (before pressing the start button) on the top of the display there are flashing icons of the paired external sensors  (including the heart Hearts️ icon for external HRM). When the icon stops flashing and turns solid, I know the external HRM is connected.

No explicit message about connected sensors appears on display at the start of the activity, but if I stop & resume the activity, then a message advising the re-connection with external sensors appears.

As far I know, during an activity, the connected external HRM signal always prevails on the wrist HR sensor (which should be automatically deactivated during the activity, if the external HRM is properly connected).

    hope this helps Slight smile
