18.16 Update - Boot Loop - Watch will not start, cannot connect to computer, cannot hard reset

Updated my watch to 18.16 this morning to try and solve battery drain, accepted the update and watch shut off.  Now, it just blinks with a blank screen.  I can take absolutely no action, up to and including plugging into a computer, turning it on, etc...The watch is basically a paper weight with a blinking blank screen.

What now!?

  • Try this : 

    1. Connect the watch to PC

    2. Hold the Light button to power the watch off, while hold the Start button.

    3. Release Light button, the watch will automatically power on, keep holding the Start button.

    4. Check your PC if the watch can connect in USB mode

    In case it is crashing always at "loading/unlocking maps", you should delete all maps from the watch once it is recognised by the computer. Maps are the .img files in the "Garmin" folder. Don't worry, you can reinstall all maps afterwards using Garmin Express.
