Massive drop of hrv/sleep score

Hi

All I'd like is an answer why

Since the update 18.14 my hrv/sleep score has dropped to an unrealistic low.

Facts

I did suffer an injury but my sleep is not affected by it as little or no pain(none when not walking!!)

I am healthy, no alc/smoking or other bad for body stuff

I don't run but I do spin bike/yoga to keep the muscles working and kcal usage up

I am not stressed if anything the other way around!

The sleep score or the HRV itself I don't really care about but it affects badly on all the other stuff, like the house of cards, all going down!

In July I have been away, not my bed and actually not good sleep+some extreme workouts.

Here's a gif of it to give you an idea

I now joined the beta, 18.16 and still rock bottom!

  • Me too. I was on holiday and all was "green". Now back home, but holiday time and all went "red".

  • I just came here to see if anyone else too had this. My HRV went straight down and been very red for a month'ish.

I reckon from the numbers I'm about twice your age though as my ranges are much lower to begin with ;)

  • What sport did you practice before the injury and how often per week?

    The date you were injured?

Check your resting heart rate sheet between JUNE 15 and JULY 12. What minimum did you reach?

Check your resting heart rate sheet between SEPTEMBER 7 and OCTOBER 4. What minimum did you reach?

  • Running, my pulse was recorded around 50 resting since I had a smart watch.

I have started running in November last year and had the instinct since July 2021- April 2023 then the Fenix 7s and a few years before Garmins I had the Fitbits for years. My pulse was constantly around that...

    Since the update is 60+?

I injured the ankle, no fractures but a "very bad sprain" according to the orthopedic surgeon and just to mention, not the first raptured tendon and by far not the only injury I ever had.

My blood saturation is 100% unchanged and my BP 115/60, also unchanged

I'll put the old Fitbit on my other wrist now for a couple of days, just to see the difference thnx for the idea Bulb Thumbsup

  • I am also having a massive drop on sleep score since I have installed 18.16..

  • I also noticed drop in the sleep after 18.16 instillation, as well as naps are no longer detected. For example, yesterday I slept during the day for an hour or so, after I woke up, watch said - no naps detected.

I am also seeing unrealistic sleep coach recommendations - as per his recommendations I should sleep 9h which is nearly impossible.

This is going to be a very disappointing set of features which aren't working properly or as they should.

  • The lowest ever, hrv of 42?!

Agree 100 % with your 9 hours! Garmin should make it customised, give us a possibility to set a "normal" sleep length, a schedule that is "us" and measure the quality according to that and not Garmin's idea of a sleep. Mid aged people don't do 9 or even 8 hours!

Is Garmin saying over 50' should get a Casio "stupid" watch and use the android step and fitness counter?

Like said, I ignore it, like completely but at the same time is messes up all the other stuff that works ok when it thinks the sleep is ok?!

All this is making me fed up really, as right now I'm using maybe 10% of the watch potential, or HR and calorie counter

I can have that for £40 instead of £500

  • The huge problem I see is, one feature to start giving incorrect measures, all other suffer as they are connected to each other and they start recommending total non-sense. I really don't understand why Garmin puts a lot of new features while the others are still not fixed and with every firmware upgrade, rather than getting better and accurate, it became much more worse and unusable.

Having said that, I am really disappointed with this watch (7X SS) and compared to my old 6XS, its worse than I though it would be and currently considering to sell it on the second market and purchase something else. I got fed up with buggy firmware, features not working properly, features not working at all and all of that for ~1000 euros watch. Its simply not acceptable any more.

  • Agee, same issue here. since the 18.14 update, HRV dropping and sleep score is down. Even to the point my Fenix states I'm "strained". Also endurance score is lowering and changing every day. Funny part is l started doing longer rides, than before the update. All these stats are even worse when I really was injured in june! Recovery time of a MTB ride 2.5 hrs: 80 hrs! But my stamina reported still 40% left in the tank. Something is not well in the update... Still seems not to be fixed with update 18.16. Please Garmin we have bought your expensive watches, trusting the quality of the data it shows the users, hope you can fix this soon!

  • I’ve got a Fenix 6 Pro and am having the same issue since a while. Right now I’m suffering a bit of a cold (no flu or Covid though), but my running scores are improving consistently. I run 3 days a week, the others i do different workouts. Am not particularly stressed. Yet my HRV score is tanking, first dropping to around 40, now avg 32. And after a good 8+ hrs night of sleep with proper REM, no REM is recorded, but Restless sleep reported. Body Battery, Training Load and Training Status seem the only FB metrics that align with how I perform.
