Getting ECG app with japanese Fenix 7 Pro

Hi, I am living in Japan currently and bought a japanese model Fenix 7 Pro.

I'm planning to go to the US soon, so I was trying to see if I can enable ECG ahead of time.

The problem is that the unofficial process to get ECG doesn't work, which worries me that even when I go to the US it won't be available at all.

Is getting ECG even possible on japanese APAC models?

Did anybody manage to do it?

Have in mind, once enabled, it will also enable 2FA, which proves to be a pain in the butt, if you are using 3rd party apps which for whatever the reason does not have any updates supporting 2FA.

The user can choose to have 2FA or not. it's not needed for ECG on the watch only if the user wants to view the ECG in Garmin Connect…

As ECG is officially supported e.g. in Malaysia or Singapore by Garmin (https://support.garmin.com/en-US/?faq=QssFZHtIOfAYNSSmzXNwY9) and these countries are APAC, then it should be possible to use ECG on APAC models, I guess.

You need to have firmware, which is not in Beta state (although even at some Beta, Garmin specifically enables ECG, then it it stated in the changelog).

Maybe you need to fake your GPS position and account country to one of the APAC countries that have ECG enabled.

Thanks a ton for taking the time to answer.

I thought the same, but apparently Japan has a specific firmware different than the rest of Asia, and it still doesn't work when switching to Malaysia or Singapore sadly.

An example of the firmware difference is that when I add my watch, if I don't switch the region to Japan I cannot even detect it, as its name is "Fenix 7 Pro Sapphire Dual Power" unique to Japan instead of the international "Fenix 7 Pro Sapphire Solar Edition".

There is also the NFC-F function used for the japanese wireless payment is only active in Japan, no matter the account region.

I was wondering if there was any way to bypass that restriction, but I'm guessing it's just too locked down...

That's the first thing I did. I tried to spoof every single country in the supported list, none works.

Did you also change the country in your Garmin | Account | Profile ?

Also, very important: once enabled due to ECG app, it cannot be disabled and you will have to live with it.

Unfortunately, this is true. Shame Garmin to not let users to disable 2FA back.

Yeah, unfortunately, I tested ECG app couple of days ago, enabled it, didn't liked the app, removed it along with my measures, and realized I cannot turn off 2FA, went to support and even they didn't helped much telling me "once enabled, it cannot be disabled and I will have to live with it or delete my account and create a new one", which I find very unhelpful answer.

Yeah of course, I changed it to match whatever region I was spoofing. I even tried VPN just in case.

Ah thanks for pointing it out. You mean 2FA with the Garmin account in the Garmin connect app?
