Massive problems since update to version 18.14.

1. Battery discharge much faster than before the update.
2. Bluetooth headset (JBL) doesn't always connect directly.
3. If an activity is stopped and you want to pause the music, the Bluetooth headset is reconnecting and after it has been reconnected, the music is playing again directly for about 2 seconds and then it is reconnecting again and so on. Infinite loop
4. Third-party display theme crashes the first time and only if I first activate an "official" display theme and then select a third-party display theme does it work.

Sorry, so if that's Garmin's software update policy, then I'm thinking about buying the Fenix 8 again. The marathon phases in Germany are currently coming up and then to work with such defective software is already an impudence. Apart from the fact that you can now only sporadically reach someone on the phone at customer service.

  • The battery drain is already well known in the community. https://forums.garmin.com/outdoor-recreation/outdoor-recreation/f/fenix-7-series/383729/battery-drain-on-18-14

Unfortunately, Garmin takes their time with it. Even tough the battery drain was already reported in the Beta 18.14 they didn't even bother to fix it for the "stable" release.

    You opions currently are:
    1. downgrade

    2. After you finished a GPS acctivity you then start a non gps activity for example yoga and then start it and immediately stop it and discard it. Then the drain after a GPS activity will be gone until your next GPS acitiviy.

    3. reboot your watch after an gps acitvity.

    4. I heard new rumours that it also helps to turn of incident detection.

  • if that's Garmin's software update policy

Garmin has proved that it is its software policy. They keep releasing new software versions even though bugs that users reported in beta are not resolved.

  • I am experiencing these same issues since my fenix 7 auto updated a few days ago.

I am more annoyed with 3"If an activity is stopped and you want to pause the music, the Bluetooth headset is reconnecting and after it has been reconnected, the music is playing again directly for about 2 seconds and then it is reconnecting again and so on. Infinite loop"

I can't stand trying to fix this during a run. I used airpod pros with my Garmin and never had this issue before the update and my airpods work great with all of my other smart devices. Any chance these issues will be fixed any time soon?

  • I have exactly the same problem on F7X and it's from version 18.14

  • I can add some more problems:

    1. If I lisening podcast from my phone during activity, then at least few times in activity there are crash when spotify and whatch can't dicide who are in charge for speaking, and only way to stop the loop of whatch trying to say hart rate and spotify trying to continue podcast, is to stop the spotify. If it was once, oky, let it be, but it is annoygly when it hapends too much times.

    2. Auto set detection for strenght trainings wich auto detect's something in the middle of set. And I can't get rid of that.

  • I have issues as well!

Both Fenix 7s pro and Epix pro Gen 2 after 18.4 update cannot connect to wifi.

  • Ok so battery issues seem to be fix with 18.16 but this Bluetooth problem is still an issue!
Garmin if you’re reading this: the Bluetooth issue only happens when you are also using an activity on the watch. If you press play/pause or try to switch playlists the watch going into an infinite loop for disconnecting and reconnecting my Bluetooth headset. It makes it almost impossible to listen to my is from my watch while on a run. I can sometimes get it to reconnect after stopping for a few minutes to try and make it work but it should just work properly.

  • I can confirm this. Only when I go back to the activity when the Bluetooth speakers are constantly reconnecting is the reconnection finally carried out. This is currently a workaround for me.

  • I second this. This does work. It takes between 10-15 seconds after going back to the activity screen for my Bluetooth headset to reconnect to the watch. Its a workaround but it needs to be corrected.

  • Curious, are you also using a Garmin HRM? I was in a rush the other day and left for a run without my monitor and the Bluetooth worked normally during my activity. I could play/pause/skip/switch playlists all with not getting put into an infinite loop of disconnecting and reconnecting. I thought that it was weird because I didn't remember getting another update to my F7XPSS. The next day I remembered to wear my heart rate monitor and when I went to change music during my run activity I was back to having issues with Bluetooth connectivity. I cycled my runs with and without the Garmin HRM for a few days to test my theory and every time I had the HRM on I had Bluetooth problems and every time I wasn't wearing it, my Bluetooth worked properly. So I was wondering if everyone hear having Bluetooth problems is also using an HRM or some other accessory when using the watch during an activity.
