Same for me. They have always been pretty close for me. Not anymore.
is there any official suggestion or feedback on this? How to make the predictions re-align to realistic values?
My watch has basically become unusable since this update. My race predictions used to be in the ballpark and now they’re nowhere near realistic. My watch has told me I’m “unproductive” for weeks during pretty hard marathon training. My daily workout suggestions (especially the VO2 max ones) are at a pace I cannot physically maintain. I will be leaving Garmin and going somewhere else because my $900 watch has become nothing more than a basic mileage tracker. So disappointed.
Have you installed 19.34?
My daily workout suggestions (especially the VO2 max ones) are at a pace I cannot physically maintain
All the targets for the suggested workouts are expressed as a % of your metrics (HR, Pace) at VO2 Max. If the targets are not realistic it can therefore be because of any of the reasons below:
- your Max HR is inaccurate, leading to wrong VO2 Max
- your resting HR is inaccurate, leading to wrong VO2 Max
- there is a bias in the model associating pace to VO2. This can be because of the above, or because you have not run a spectrum of efforts,
- you have not worn a chest strap and your HR data is wrong when associated to pace
- your pace data is wrong, because you are running on hilly courses and/or treadmills and/or your pod is not calibrated.

Be happy - now you can run much faster with less effort
BTW, do you use a HRM chest strap? If not, then I highly recommend it. My race predictions are within seconds of my PR's.
