Vo2max increase initial ramp up, run coach Amy 10km plan

Hello everyone

I am following a run plan

goal 10km 45min = 4:30pace; Status: week10/19

HW; Fenix 7x pro; no HRM yet

For some weeks now,  it gives me very hard intervals which I sometime can fulfill and sometime not even remotely. e.g. Supersets feel crazy hard.

The Vo2max graph(picture below) shows the increase over time, and it feels like a rather quick increase.

My question are:

- have you seen equal development in your Vo2max as well?

- Is this increase reasonable?

- when can I expect to plateau? For now it looks like I have no limits ^^ I can reach vo2max 60 by mid of next year?

  • Last year I tried a running workout with the coach and my vo2max increased by 5 points in two months. It then stabilized but never reached the same value as my cycling one (5 more points higher)
but I have to add that I don't put as much effort into running as I do into cycling.

  • Thanks for the feedback,

lets see, 5 points-2month is impressive, I started at 49 now and gained almost 3points, Based on your comment I feel comfortable to gain 2 points more, reaching 54 :).

which running coach and targets have had set?

Maybe you can also tell how your cycling vo2max increased, and whether you feel a performance change that correlates to the vo2max increase?

  • I wanted to improve my 10km time (40min). I tried to do it with coach Jeff Galloway and the improvement occurred on the anaerobic threshold. I have always used the HRM-DUAL heart rate monitor because the optical sensor of the fenix 7x is not precise while you run high intensity repetitions (no watch can be). I recommend using a garmin HRM dual pro o other for precise results.
I have been a cyclist for many years, my vo2max has always been very high (75 at 20 years old, 65 at 30), unfortunately lately it has been going down perhaps because I alternate with running and my legs need to rest more.

  • Thanks again for your insights,

I understand , you where already quite fit and then you jumped 5 points last year.  running vo2max

    I am planning to buy the HRM pro plus soon, until then I have to work with my Fenix 7x;

Maybe I will try for the next run goal also Jeff, I heard a lot of good recommendations, even though I am quite happy with Amy,

  • Are you running without HRM chest strap? Only with watch optical  hrm sensor?

  • Only optical sensor from my watch.
hrm I will buy soon …
