Football activity and HRM PRO Plus

I have an HRM PRO plus, and I am wondering if when I have football matches, this would work:
I never take the watch with me. So, leaving the watch at home, with a football activity started, wear the HRM PRO PLUS since I leave home, and then 3hrs later approx stop it when I am home.

Perhaps I can trim the activity later?

Anyone with experience doing this? I just want that my match days count for my training load, stats etc.

  • Well, you can do it (assuming the watch is charged sufficiently to hold several hours), but do not forget to put the strap on again, when back home, and before stopping and saving the activity, otherwise the HR data will not be downloaded. I also recommend pairing the strap with the phone GC app, and syncing it upon return too, in order to download also the all-day HR data, IMs, Calories, steps, etc. Also consider using a indoor activity (such as fr example Cardio), or at least turn off the GPS in the settings of the Football activity profile, in order to save the power.

A more comfortable solution might be bring the watch with you, and keeping it in the lockers, in a bag under the bench, at a non-playing player, at the coach, or at a reliable spectator. That would spare you from the necessity to trim the activity every time.

  • Thanks for the reply. Good tips. I will not remove the HRM until I'm home then, that should be the easiest. I removed GPS from the Football activity, and today I perhaps go for a walk with only the HRM Pro Plus and see if it works. I would like to avoid bringing the watch as it is not safe at all unfortunately, so rather keep it at home. Watch should be fine do you think with a 3hrs activity without GPS? do you have any experience?

    No problem

  • And one last question, would the distance be recorded? or only the HR data will be shown in the activity?

  • Distance from steps of Hrm yes. Distance from gps no.

  • HRM-Pro can indeed measure the distance too, and it works very well and improving the accuracy at directly logged activities, but AFAIK the distance is part of the data transferred exclusively over ANT+, so I am not quite sure whether it can be transmitted with the Store & Forward feature of the strap at activities where the watch is not connected in real-time. I'd rather tell that not, but I may be wrong - in fact I did not test it myself.

  • Just went for a walk under an indoor football activity with just the HRM PRO Plus. Steps were recorded. HR as well (but quite weird started extremely high and then after 10’ started measuring correctly). But no distance or speed…
