Wrong sleep data

Why my new Fenix 7X does not recognize sleep correctly? Every day it tells me that I have slept for 1-2 hours between 5 or 6 and 7. This is a teal shame. I have been using Fitbit for years with very accurate sleep data. I have the Oura Ring along with the Garmin and just thanks to it I can get some decent sleep statistics. Garmin - please fix your issue!

  • Hello  I am sorry to hear you are having this issue. For sleep tracking, there are a few initial things I would recommend looking for.

    • Is your sleep schedule set correctly in the watch? Menu, System, Sleep Mode, Schedule
    • Are you seeing HR data recording throughout the night? If not, do you have any battery save enabled during sleep hours? Be sure this is disabled.
    • If there is no HR or gaps in HR throughout the night, be sure to check the fit of the watch. Ensure this is snug, but not too tight. This is to ensure the HR is being read consistently.
    • If you are seeing particularly high HR and/or a lot of movement throughout the night, this can inhibit sleep tracking.
    • If this is still not tracking as expected, I would recommend trying a hard reset. For this, hold the Light button until the watch shuts off, as opposed to selecting power off. Then power this on again.
  • Thank you for the advices. Meanwhile it start recording my sleep after I put the sleep mode to 1 min.

  • Update November 22, 2024:

Our engineers were investigating reports of Sleep tracking not recording, even when HR and movement is recording throughout the night. They have indicated that this should now be resolved with the latest SW version 19.34. So if you have not already, you can install this update using Garmin Express.

Large amounts of movement throughout the night, high levels of stress, gaps in your HR recording, and inaccurate sleep times set can still negatively impact sleep tracking.
