Reading is about 40% of what it should be in miles.
Any ideas, other than altering GPS to max accuracy

If you have a sensor paired, it is probably miscalibrated. Also an E-Bike acts as a sensor.
Perhaps a few more details might help. Sw version, current GPS settings, bike details, even a screen shot of the incorrect distance. Have you tried exporting the fit or GPX file and reading it in another application? Unless you are in something like ultra track mode the various other modes will not lose you 40%. Does the track look good?
Yes it's an ebike
Hi
Sw version 17.28.
I was on 'all systems' in GPS.
It's a Giant e trance.
I'll check the other things you asked and get back.
Don't think I'd be up to speed with exporting the file, do you mean sharing it to say, strava?
Then it's highly likely that the configuration is not correct. Check on your watch under sensor settings if you find you E-Bike (potentially paired as speed sensor) and check the wheel size settings. If it is on "Auto", try setting it manually. If a value is configured, you could try to set it to "auto" or set the correct value manually. The correct value is the outer circumference of your wheel.
Whenever I see 40% I wonder if it is a km vs mile issue but, in this case. I’ll bet #Matthias has nailed it with an incorrect speed sensor connection. Assuming in Connect the track (route) looks good then GPS is fine but speed (distance) is coming from the bike sensor.
Cant seem to doing find a way to attach the activity track, but it looks fine, not broken.
It's been fine, without being calibrated, for months, any idea why it would suddenly measure way out?
Not really. Maybe you installed a software update to the watch or bike? Or maybe the auto calibration was faulty once.
No idea but maybe this??? https://forums.garmin.com/sports-fitness/cycling/f/edge-530/310500/giant-2022-trance-x-e-1-and-garmin-edge-530
I assume you know you can adjust the distance for an activity in Garmin Connect?
