Fenix 7 pro quick manual backlight changes?

Considering upgrading to the Fenix 7 pro series.  Currently have Vivoactive 4 and love having quick access to adjust backlight values at anytime.  For example, right now if I wanted, I can quickly bump up (or down all the way to OFF) the back light brightness to a specific value.

In all the videos and documentation I've seen of the Fenix they only show how one is able to set predefined backlight values for the given categories, "General, during activity, sleep, etc."

1. For the fenix 7 pro series, does this mean that if I'm sitting here having coffee (general use) that I do NOT have the ability quickly bump the backlight brightness up or down without going all way back into the menu (system/ display/ brightness/ general - make selection) ?  No quick access option like assigning brightness to "swipe right" change the value, and swipe back to home screen.  Or something comparable?

2. With the Vivoactive 4 I found I rarely even need the backlight on at all.  Mostly nighttime walks/runs and even then the lowest value is plenty.  Does the fenix 7 pro series have a way to keep the back light off entirely until I need it?  And then quickly and temporarily bump it up 1 notch to the lowest setting.

Thanks for your time :)

  • the 7 pro has an auto brightness option with 3 settings.

to answer quickly, no there's no real shortcut to backlight level, however you could very well disable wrist gesture and backlight would only turn on when you press the light button or touch the screen, is that what you're asking?

  • Thanks for the reply!

That's part of what I'm after.

1.In reference to the auto brightness, I read on a forum that if you disable the auto-brightness you then have access to more options of discreet brightness values, possibly from 5% then moving in 10% increments? Is this true?  If so, is there an option for OFF or "0%" ??

    2. Assuming the screen is similar to (or better than) the vivoactive 4, to save as much battery as possible I would prefer to have the backlight off completely for everything until I specifically choose to turn it on as needed.  This worked well on my vivoactive 4 (pictures below).   In a normal well lit room, Is the fenix 7 pro series screen similarly bright enough to read without the backlight?   Are there options that would keep the backlight disabled even when pressing a button or touching the screen?

I realize these are very specific use case questions and battery of the F7X pro series is already WAAAAAAY better than the VA4.

    Thanks again!

  • there's no real shortcut to backlight level,

There is. At the control wheel :
