As a workaround, you can also use Garmins „aviaton database manager“ Software for Win/Mac.

Seriously ?

Syncing Manually with the Aviation Database (Manual version 10 / June 2024)
When your watch is connected to a Wi‑Fi® wireless network, database updates are downloaded automatically overnight. You can also manually sync with the database at any time.
---
do you try to force restart your watch ?
do a sync with Garmin Connect before. Then long press Light (upper left button) until watch shutdown, then short press on the same button for starting it.
This manipulation did not resolve the problem, in the connectivity/wifi menu, "Aviation Database Updates" is not present!
On both my MARQ Aviator Gen2 and tactix 7 AMOLED, I have noticed that the aviation database is automatically updated after I sync with Garmin Express on my PC.
There is no notification of this update, it is only noticed when scrolling through System > About to check the database status.
I was pleasantly surprised, and realized that I no longer have to manually update the database separately.
I can understand how Garmin would decide to eliminate the database update function in the Wi-Fi menu in light of this new functionality, but I think they could have left it as is as a redundancy to the automatic update in Express - IOW, it would be better to have both.
I have submitted this suggestion to Garmin here: Share Ideas With Garmin
If you feel the same, you may also want to suggest it as an idea yourself - the more suggestions Garmin receive, the more likely it is to change.
