Fenix 7 PRO treadmill - calibration and pace gone

Since the latest update or maybe the update before my Fenix 7 Pro does not recognize any pace on a treadmill run. It simply does not show any value.

Also when saving a treadmill activity I don’t get the option „Calibrate and save“ anymore. I just can save it.

My Garmin Instinct 2 still can do both things.

Anyone else with that problem ?

  • My Fénix used to be able to calibrate every single time and then I ran 8 miles and it showed only 3 on my watch not giving me an option. This has occurred after the update and is most likely a bug. I’ve already contacted Garmin about it and they told me to connect it to a PC for more recent updates or reset the watch. Hope this helps.

  • Hello

I am sorry to hear you are having this issue. The "Calibrate and Save" option will only appear if the watch is picking up at least 2.4km./1.5mi. of distance. If the watch is not recording the distance, the I would recommend trying the following:

    •  Be sure not to hold the railing. Instead allow your arms to swing freely at your side. For indoor activities, it is the arms swings that actually capture the distance.
    • It is recommended to walk or run outdoors with GPS every couple weeks. The watch will also use the GPS information from outdoor activities for calibrating the treadmill activity.
    • If there is no change, I would recommend trying a hard reset. For this, hold the Light button until the watch shuts off, as opposed to selecting power off. Then power this on again.
  • Hi Laurie,

thanks for the reply and the infos.

it will not reach the 2,4km because it records no pace nor a distance. That explains why I don’t get the calibrate option.

I‘ll try to do some out door GPS run/walk and see if it improves. That could actually be the cause since I mostly use my Instinct 2 for outdoor GPS lately and the Fenix wasn’t used.

But despite all that info imho it should at least pick up some pace. I can assure that my arms move when running as I run very often.

  • Same here. Essentially Garmin doesn't recognize pace at all. I may have been holding onto something at some points. I guess it is the watch's accelerometer which is measuring pace when there's no GPS available as in outside running.

  • I walk with GPS outside a lot and always get pace measured, so this same thing happens to me on tread, so I don't believe it's failure to calibrate outside on the GPS and accelerometer stride.
