Audio prompts broken under 17.23? Fenix 7x

For about the past two weeks since taking the 17.23 update, my audio prompts while running have been broken. I have auto lap set at 1 mile and each mile, the voice say something like "heart rate 8 percent. Timer paused." But the timer keeps running.

It used to give me a lap time (which ends up being my pace) and I think a total time, and say nothing about the timer being paused.

On one audio prompt I got something like "speed 0.8" and a "time- 8 seconds"... I don't think it's an Easter egg of Garmin changing every number to be a variation of 8, to signal an impending Fenix 8 release. 

I tried turning off and re-enabling the audio prompts but no luck yet.

Is anyone else getting similar issues? Scrolling back through the last few pages and also searching turned up nothing.

    Also broken for me since 25th May (but on a Forerunner 255 in the UK, firmware v19.18). The update forced itself onto the watch and I had to wait to start my run until the update finished.

    I though the audio prompt was "hard grade 8%, timer paused" but I never hear the first part very well :-D

    All I want back is the lap number and lap time. 

    Garmin don't want to answer me on Twitter about it :-(

    My run on the 25th was the first I did following a course, so I didn't know if it was a course-config issue, but I get the same useless message all the time now, whether on a course or not. 

    I did also get other weird prompts on that run like "shower in 8 metres" - usually after I had correctly followed a change in the course...

    Is there a way to roll back the firmware to a previous good version?

    Well, I chatted with support today and while he asked me a few questions about this to submit a bug report given I have had the issue on 17.23 and now 17.28, we realized that I was discussing audio prompts heard through my headphones connected to my Pixel 7 Android phone, not headphones paired directly to the watch.  I submitted diagnostics from within the app and got disconnected from chat, but then decided I would give up and update my Garmin Connect app (I had been holding out given the complaints about worse functionality and customization of the home screen) and just got back from a run where the audio prompts and data verbalizations worked exactly as expected.

    So it seems that there must have been something about 17.23 and subsequent releases which was not compatible with phone audio prompts on my older version of the Android Garmin Connect app.
