Wifi freeze

Hello,

I just received my Fenix 7 pro yesterday, and sadly I update the firmware to 17.23 since auto update is active. My watch freeze when I'm trying to add a new wifi (2.4ghz , wpa2 , pwd > 8) I have to reboot it to unfreeze it and the network is not saved. So I succeeded to add my network with Garmin express but now when I go to the connectivity> wifi and then sync it freezing again ...

Ps: I already try a factory reset.

  • I have the same problem with my Fenix 7 Pro after updating to 17.23. First issue was that the watch froze several times while charging. Just now I realized that Spotify is not working, however, the root reason for everything seems to be WiFi. When doing Wifi sync or trying to reconfigure jt, the watch freezes. I am using a dedicated 2.4 Ghz SSID.

  • Try the following, if it doesn't solve the problem, contact Garmin support.

    • Go to your System > About menu
    • press the top left Light Button 8 times
    • Go to the very bottom
    • select the option to reinstall the software
  • Thanks for pointing to that hidden service menu, wild stuff :)

Did not work unfortunately, it finds the WiFi and freezes again after entering the WiFi key, guess I need to contact support then.

  • It seem we have the exactly the same problems. My watch freeze in these 3 cases you are describing. I think that the firmware broke the wifi as well

  • "stable" 17.xx version actually broke wifi (there are also  other bugs). i suggest you to rollback to  stable 16.22 and disable automatic updates

  • How to roll back ? I just received my watch fews days ago and it's updated automatically when I set up my watch ...

  • you must go to beta forum. in the post for the first beta for 17.xx release  you can find the previous stable firmware (16.22). The links are at the bottom of the page.
You must to connect the watch to your pc (with garmin express closed, chech on your systyray) and copy in the Garmin folder on fenix the "force.tmp" and "gupdate.gsp" files extracted from downloaded. zip.
Once disconnected the fenix will notify the update to 16.22
after downgrade you must to go in system-software update menu and disable automatic update.
Garmin Update will automatically load the new system software without any notification every time you connect the watch to your PC (only applications and maps are requested).
So remember to remove the gupdate.gsp file from the watch before disconnecting it to prevent it from loading the 17.23 again

  • I am sorry to hear you are having trouble with the watch freezing with the WiFi. I would love to collect some specifics from this issue, to report to our engineers. For this, I will reach out to you via Private Message.
