Multisport/Triathlon auto-change sport

Hi there sport-fans Slight smile

In Multisport activity there is a setting called Sport Change that is supposed to automatically detect sport changes. I have not tried it yet but am wondering if someone here has. Does it work correctly? Does it detect transition phases as well?

I know you can adjust multisport legs after the whole triathlon but it is still better to do it right in the first place (if only to have it correctly uploaded to Strava).

Any experience?

  • I played around with it for a bit.  I won't be using it for any longer distance tri where I might get off the bike because it auto transitions.  It wasn't perfect for my garage transitions from bike to run.  I haven't tried swim to bike.  It was a bit better than I am though.  It is just super hard to get the button pressed perfectly when you are trying to pull down a wetsuit or run along with a bike, and the auto detect, while not great, still did a better job than I do.

  • Is there a way to adjust the times if it gets them wrong? That was one of the features I liked about the Wahoo Rival, you could go into the Wahoo app and match the timing of each leg and transition to the official time before it uploaded the activity to Strava, etc.

  • This is useful feedback, thanks.

On Reddit some people wrote that after auto-transition there is some sort of overlay on the bottom part of the activity screen which is bothering. Did you see anything like that?

  • Yes, you can adjust transition and activity times manually afterwards. But it is the initial version that gets uploaded to Strava. Maybe you can delete on Strava and re-upload but I have not tried that.
