Fenix 7

Hi guys,

Received a new Fenix 7x yesterday, set it all up, uploaded an activity to Strava, all good.

This morning I did a swim however the watch wouldn’t connect to my phone or my WiFi network.

Both connection options are disabled on the watch. Turned off, removed devices, tried reconnection but nothing there.
i see this has happened to various other people, is there a fix please.

thanks

Tim

  • From your watch face push and hold the centre button on the left to bring up the menu.

Use the bottom left (down) button to highlight "Connectivity' then push top right button to select it.

In that menu use top right again to select the "Phone" option and make sure Status is toggled on and connected.

If the above connection was already on you might have enabled battery saver mode..... Use the middle left button from the watch face again to go into the menu and scroll to "Power Manager" then in there,  choose battery Saver and make sure its status is off.

Hopefully one, or both of those fix it!

If not, reboot your watch by pushing and holding the top left button without letting go until the screen goes blank (ignoring all menus that pop up including the emergency assistance message). After a few seconds of a blank screen hold the up left button again for a few seconds to turn it on.... feedback how you get on Thumbsup

  • Hi Zippyioa, thanks for the reply,

Tried the first option and in connectivity and it says waiting iphone

second option, battery saver is off

and rebooting the watch had no affect.

Have you got any other suggestions please?

  • To confirm, the watch wont find a wifi network and will not show up when searching for bluetooth devices.  Thanks

  • If it's waiting for the iphone it could be a phone issue? I've just got mine to say the same by turning my phone Bluetooth off. Worth a double check that your Bluetooth is on on your iPhone.

Might also be worth pairing it again?  Hold middle left button > Connectivity > phone > pair phone

You can also pair in the Garmin Connect app. Load it. Tap on the icon in the top right and in the devices screen that loads, tap "Add device" at the bottom.

As it also has a wifi issue it is sounding like you've somehow turned off the Bluetooth AND WiFi though so the iPhone might not be the issue.

To check the watches wifi is on hold middle left button & choose Connectivity > wifi and check that Status is on (I turn mine off to save battery).

Have you checked its not in do not disturb or sleep mode? Hold middle button scroll up to System > Sleep Mode & turn off so bit disturb and Battery Save at the bottom of that list.

If that all fails might be worth removing it from Garmin Connect on your phone (I assume you've installed that app and paired it in there? If not, definitely do that)

If all that fails I'm a bit at a loss as to what else to suggest.... if you get to that point perhaps a full reset of the watch is the only thing I can think might fix it.

  • I'm fairly sure it's not a phone issue as the bluetooth is working with other devices.  As is the wifi.  It was operating correctly last night. Maybe it did an update overnight that's affected it?

I've tried both the bluetooth and wifi on the watch and it just won't find anything to connect to and do not disturb is switched off.

I have removed garmin connect app from my phone and re loaded still no changes.

The re boot asks to pair the phone and then says initializing, then to pairing failed.

I think I need to do a full re set its driving me mad :-/

I am pretty sure something on the watch is stopping the bluetooth and wifi from working

  • I have done what I believe to be a hard reset, power on with back pressed and it has made no difference

  • To do a full reset push and hold middle left button, scroll to System>Reset>Delete Data and reset settings

It's an extreme way to go but might bee your only option right now..... keep me postedFingers crossed

  • Hard reset completed and the bluetooth and wifi functions still don't work.

Wifi won't find a network and bluetooth says initializing then pairing failed

    Anything else I could try

  • I'm running low on ideas now sadly..... if a factory reset didn't fix it I can only think that a software update either didn't install fully, or something might have broken....

What software version are you running?

Hold middle left > System> About the current version is 17.23

After checking your version try holding the middle button > System >software update and see if «Install update" is an option (if it previously started updating but then crashed that may have messed up the BT & wifi, so this MIGHT restart the update and fix the wireless issues).

Failing that it is new so garmin support for your country is your next port of call  Where did you buy it from?

  • It has version 17.23 on it so should be up to date.

I'm in the uk so will contact the seller first of all.

Thank you for your help, very much appreciated.
